A new name was needed for the pink, highly fragrant flowers that occur in Central America hence this new name Oncidium sotoanum for the species in the photos above. ATTENTION!!!!!! Les 20 dernières années, cette orchidée était connue sous le nom de Oncicium ornithorhynchum. Des récentes études ont prouvé que ce nom décrivait une espèce à fleurs jaunes des Andes, en Amérique du Sud, communément appelée Oncidium pyramidale. On a eu alors besoin d'un nouveau nom pour cette espèce à fleurs roses et très parfumées qui se trouve en Amérique centrale... Oncidium sotoanum. If you have the pink flowered, Central American species then the true current name is Oncidum sotoanum, please go to that species for the information on it.
